Grace- Super abounding grace
Ever been accused or labeled as hyper grace?Ever been asked why you teach mostly about grace?
To the first question.Im in the good company of Paul and so are you so dont take it negatively when you are.
Paul says in 1Ti 1:14 And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus
Notice that exceeding abundant what was?,grace was/is.
Now in the gk exceeding, abundant is huperpleonazō
1 huper, from which we get the word hyper,So we can say Paul was describing grace as hyper grace.
2.pleonazō which is abound and increasing, super abound.
Now ,not only is this so when we believe and are born again,it is also true for living the life of who we are in christ and christ in us.ie Discipleship ongoing sanctification
Look at Paul says in 1Co 15:10 But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me
Wow,so grace is the reason he is what he is,but more than that, grace is bestowed on him as he labourered and why he labored abundantly.
But then look at this He says but not I,but the grace of God.
You know we often hear we are saved by grace through faith not of works, lest anyone boast. Most people agree with this, then they think everything after that we must do to proove we are saved,to be faithful to the call God has for us.
But NO Paul says no,no,not by your strength, not by your works, but by the grace of God given to him to do what God wants him to do.
Why is this so important?because if it be by warks it cannot be by grace.Rom 11:6 And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.
If our service is by works,we have something to boast about, but Paul is saying, what we must do is to be by grace, then we got nothing to boast about. We are to do,by the grace God gives us.God works in us by His grace through the Holy Spirit ,both to will and to do of His good pleasure.
But notice abounding grace when we sin,we all do.When we confess our sins God forgives us of it and cleanses us from all unrighteousness.1 Jn 1:9 This is abounding grace towards us,even when we fall and fail.
Notice also,in our desperate time of need we can boldly walk into the throne room of God,that we might find mercy and grace.Heb 4:16
So ive got no probelms, being called a hypergrace teacher, what so ever. What about you?Are you living by grace or your own strength?……..Trevor McNamee.
