The lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life.

Was thinking about this today,in regards to our Christian daily walk.
We know none of us this side of glory, will ever stop sinning.
John, clearly tells of the 3 ways we all sin and we all do,to varying degrees.
Many people these days, tell us we need to try harder,we need to be more conscious of sin in our lives and to dig it,root it out of our lives. However does this really work? This self effort to stop sinning.
My experience says no it doesn’t,it may seem for a while we are successful in some areas,we easlily fall into.Yet as we seem to have victory in one area,we find another area rears it’s ugly head and quite often,we just throw our hands in the air in frustration,in just simply give up,it’s just too,too hard.
So what’s the answer,is there a way,in which we can become victorious over sin, that as Paul says we so easily fall into.
Let’s look at David and Goliath.
Goliath representing sin, with a huge sword and shield,he threw a sword to Davi,David put it aside and picked up 5 stones. But notice,he only used one of them to knock down and defeat Goliath.
We should take a lesson from this.David I imagine is thinking I’m going to need five stones to put this fella out.But only one was needed.
How often do we try and deal with besetting sin,in our own ways and strengths? ie pick up 5 stones?I say most of the time.
So how do we deal with the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life,?
I believe it is by grace.I think we can use revaltions to help us here.
They overcome by the blood of the lamb, the word of their testimony and they did not worry about their life, through death
It’s the blood of the lamb, that has cleansed us from all unrighteousness, and that is our testimony, through which we no longer fear death.
We know the accuser of the brethren accuses us day and night before God and he likes to have us believe, that we are condemned every time we fall/sin.
But look,4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
What sets us against the true knowledge of God?
The lust of the eyes, the lusts of the flesh and the pride of life.
And we overcome how?
By bring everything that arises from the lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh and the pride of life,we are to bring our thoughts into captivity to obedience of Christ.Which is our testimony, the blood of Christ.
Yes grace is and was not just provided to us,to be saved, but for us to live the life God has purposed for us to do and it by grace God will take us home.
Struggling with sin, grace is your answer, renew your mind with the power of Gods grace. We could call it David’s stone.
Look what Pauls says

I am crucified with Christ: Nevertheless I live; Yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: And the life I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave Himself for me…..Galatians 2:5

Continuing on from my previous post.
Since we overcome by the blood of the lamb and the word of our testimony and love not our lives through death.
Knowing and being assured that our testimony can only point to Jesus as our reason to be saved. That the testimony of Jesus,is that He is our advocate,He sits between us and the Father,in heavenly places.
We can in our time of need, whether it be physical, spiritual, the need for victory over sin, help and strength to get through the trials and tribulations that we face in our daily living.
We can BOLDLY enter into the throne room of God,where we will find mercy and grace.
Do you notice that?BOLDLY,not whimpering, not with trepidation, not with fear, not with condemnation hanging over us.With out fear of being cast away, thrown out.no fear of not being accepted or recieved, but BOLDLY.
What about you,in all that you struggle with, are you entering into to the rest of Gods amazing grace, that Paul say super abounds to you, as John says from his fulness we recieve grace upon grace.
I love what Peters prayer is
2Pe 1:2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
2Pe 1:3 According as his divine power hath given unto us ALL things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
2Pe 1:4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
Your strength is In Jesus and what He has done,it’s not in our own abilities.Let Gods grace be super abounding to all you who read this……….trev.
